Oscar and his handler Pete are both members of Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team, Oscar is the second dog that Pete has trained with. At the moment Oscar’s training involves him searching smallish areas, air scenting into a “body” and returning to tell Pete. He then leads Pete to the body and is rewarded by lots of play. It sounds so easy on paper!
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
