The Team was established in 1965 and we normally have around 45 to 50 Search and Rescue members (including probationers) who are on call 24-hours a day every day of the year. We are all volunteers; we have no paid staff and our services are offered free to anyone who needs them. We are reliant on the generosity of local people and groups plus other organisations to cover the £42,000 on average it costs to run the Team every year.
In addition to the Search and Rescue members we have approximately 20 Support members who help with fundraising activities, acting as injured or missing people, maintaining the vehicles and equipment and a multitude of other jobs. If you would like to make a donation, or raise funds to help us, please check out our fundraising page here.
SUPPORT YOUR LOCAL MOUNTAIN RESCUE TEAM – WE NEED YOUR HELP !
As charity we rely on donations to provide a Search & Rescue service. We are very busy with call-outs this year – our volunteers attended nine call-outs in all weathers in just nine days during April. COVID-19 means we can’t fundraise in the more traditional ways and PPE requirements have impacted the Team’s equipment heavily.
Waterproof Shell Clothing Project – Please consider Sponsoring Our Much-Needed Replacement Equipment:
The cost to kit out an individual Search and Rescue Team member (Waterproof Shell Jacket and Trousers) enabling them to operate in all possible conditions, is approximately £400. This project is therefore looking to raise £20,000 to re-equip the team – please help.
SUNDAY 17TH OCTOBER 2021 (1409 HOURS) After a lull in calls for a few weeks, we received a call to assist the Yorkshire Ambulance Service and Yorkshire Air Ambulance on farmland near Brompton, Northallerton where a woman had fallen from a horse. A number of Team members made their way to the scene where the casualty was already being treated…
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.Join Now
