We are a Mountain Rescue Team which provides an effective deployment of personnel and resources, that are highly valued in the local community.

STATEMENT OF INTENT
To provide Mountain Rescue Services in our region.
By training and retaining our members, with appropriate resources and funds.
In order to save lives, providing confidence to the public.
CRITICAL SUCCESS FACTORS
We need:
CSF 1 – Sufficient members with every skill-set to cover every call-out.
CSF 2 – Effective and efficient governance, better managing workload of members’ roles [and of Committee members, Leads, and Deputies], by effective I.T. with simple access.
CSF 3 – A robust financial and fund-raising plan to facilitate resource replacement.
CSF 4 – A plan for resource maintenance and replacement, including vehicle and equipment replacement, and assessing new opportunities.
CSF 5 – An inclusive collaborative culture that integrates all team members.
CSF 6 – Strengthened profile relationships with other agencies.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.

Looking back through some of our old reports (from the last Century!) one of them contains the following note in relation to the Team’s establishment in 1965:
‘With an increasing number of visitors to the North York Moors there were incidents of people going missing or getting hurt, particularly on the ever popular Lyke Wake Walk’.
Thankfully such incidents on the Walk are now less common. However, as we celebrate our 60th Anniversary, it is very fitting that we can announce a significant donation of £2,250 from the organisers of the Lyke Wake Challenge! Very many thanks to them and to everyone who has contributed to that donation, which will help us to continue our voluntary search & rescue service.
