FRIDAY 30TH JUNE 2023 (1204 HOURS)
This was our second call for assistance from the Yorkshire Ambulance Service in less than 24-hours; a report of a woman with a large cut to her right leg after a fall, whilst walking just outside Great Ayton. As usual, several Team members were called out from their homes and work-places etc and a double-crewed Team Land Rover was sent from our nearby Base.
Upon arrival the casualty was assessed and treated by Team members, with a trauma dressing being applied to the wound. Once other members and the YAS crew arrived she was placed on a rescue stretcher and carried across two fields for approximately 400-metres to a waiting ambulance. We wish her well for a speedy recovery. Sixteen Team members were involved for approximately 1.25-hours plus return travel time back to homes, work and our Base.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.Join Now
