SATURDAY 02 AUGUST (1345hrs)
The third call out for the team within 24 hours, was at the request of Cleveland Police to provide assistance in the search for a vulnerable missing person in the Redcar Area. Initially, a team member, local to the area, deployed to recce a meeting point and to gather further information from the police in the area. Based on the information supplied, the team deployed both Land Rovers and the Incident Control vehicle to a location on the outskirts of Redcar, with other team members making their own way to the location. Soon after deployment of the first members to arrive , who were with a police officer using a drone, a find was made. The person was medically assessed by a team member and then loaded onto the rescue stretcher and wheeled the short distance to a nearby road for transfer to an ambulance .
We wish the person a speedy recovery.
The benefit of the use of a drone in a search was clearly demonstrated in this case.
