Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team

CALL-OUT 10/2026
Thursday 26 Mar (0900hrs)
Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) contacted the team to provide assistance with the evacuation of an ill person from a remote location near to Chop Gate. The team deployed both Land Rovers to Chop Gate along with other team members in their own vehicles. The first Land Rover headed directly to the location picking up the ambulance crew on route. The other Land Rover was used as a shuttle to transfer other members from Chop Gate to the remote residence. The person was treated by the paramedics and placed on the mountain rescue stretcher. The Land Rover at the house was stripped out to allow the stretcher to be loaded into the vehicle for the 1.2 mile transfer to the ambulance in Chop Gate. Once the person was transferred to the ambulance, the Land Rover returned to the remote residence to be re loaded with the equipment which had been removed.
Sadly, we were informed that the individual died that evening in hospital. The team pass on their sincere condolences to the family and friends of the person.
15 team members were involved for approximately 3 hours.
Thank you to the Buck Inn, Chop Gate for use of the car park as a RV point.
