AUTUMN WEEKEND PRACTICE
Sunday saw the team training in the area around Loadstones Country Park. During the morning, there was a search and rescue exercise involving an injured child. The scenario highlighted certain limitations/differences in the treatment of a child.
Later there was a carousel of basic skills to be undertaken including a child in a vacuum mattress, setting up a Land Rover to take a stretcher and familiarisation with the setup of the Incident Control vehicle.
The afternoon was a search and rescue exercise, involving the transfer of all personnel to Barkers Crag to locate the casualty. Once found and treated, there was a challenging extraction involving the use of a back up rope to raise to the location of the "virtual" air ambulance.
The day was the first opportunity for the recent prospective members to work alongside the other team members.
