Curtailed Search – Boltby Forest

MONDAY 19TH SEPTEMBER 2022 (2010 HOURS)

Our 50th call-out of the year proved to be a short one!

Called by North Yorkshire Police following a report of two overdue walkers who had contacted a family member to say they were lost in a forest above Boltby village. There was no longer any response from their phones.

One of our Team members who was near to the area was sent immediately with another one following him up, whilst others went to our Base to collect vehicles. However, just after the first Team member arrived at an RV-point we were again contacted by the Police who advised us to stand-down as the walkers had been safely located by their family member and were, by then, on their way home. In addition to the first two Team members who deployed and five others who reached our Base to collect vehicles, a further 17 were on standby but the call-out lasted less than 30-minutes!
