“I think that might be the Yorkshire Vet?”
So went the conversation between the Team’s Call-out and Incident Officers upon receiving a call about an injured mountain biker in woodland near Kilburn, Thirsk last month. It turned out to be Julian Norton ‘The Yorkshire Vet’.
Today, Julian’s regular feature in the Yorkshire Post newspaper ‘Country Post’ section (page 3) is all about his accident and subsequent rescue by Cleveland MRT. The paper’s rural correspondent, Emma Ryan, discusses the work of volunteer mountain rescue teams in Comment (page one) followed up by providing more details of the rescue on page 9.
Many thanks to both Julian and Emma for their very kind comments about the Team and as Julian says at the end of his article ‘To be continued…’

Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
