Whilst we were dealing with a couple of call-outs yesterday, four of our Team members were having a refreshing ‘dip’ in a north-east river. They were attending the final day of a 3-yearly re-qualification course to maintain their grading as Swift-Water Rescue Technicians (SRTs).
The in-water sessions took place at Abbey Rapids near Barnard Castle. Many thanks to Rescue North East for the course and to our own instructor Ollie. Well done to Craig, Austen, Derek and Ken for re-qualifying as SRTs and thereby helping to maintain our capability to provide a water & flood rescue service.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.Join Now
