This week is the 37th annual Volunteers Week and as we also enter a new month let’s hope our volunteer Team members aren’t as busy in June as we have been up to now! We attended 20 call-outs in April and May combined. Although we occasionally reach double figures in one month we actually attended 10 in each of those months which is very rare. They included six searches, the rest being rescues and very sadly two body recoveries.
So far this year (Jan-May) we’ve seen a 31% increase over the same period on average for the previous 3-years. Let’s hope things ease off in the weeks ahead!
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.

Unfortunately due to the overnight rain with more forecast, today's event at Redcar Racing has been cancelled so we will not be there! Statement from the racecourse:
Unfortunately today’s Easter Monday race meeting has been abandoned.
We are bitterly disappointed that racing is not able to go ahead but there is little that can be done given the amount of recent rainfall this morning.
All pre-paid tickets will automatically be refunded, there is no need to contact the racecourse office.
