Colleagues from other mountain rescue teams as far away as Wales have spent this weekend at our Base providing Search Planning training to Cleveland MRT members (and others from the north-east region). Unfortunately, two of those visitors have been victims of theft whilst staying overnight locally (i.e. last night). A range of mountain rescue equipment was stolen. Some of it is Team-branded and therefore easily recognisable as such.
If anyone comes across any discarded items fitting the description below or sees any offered for sale or in use etc could you please inform Cleveland Police (the thefts have been reported to them).
Obviously, our colleagues are not alone in being victims of crime. But until they can replace it their ability to undertake search & rescue work when back with their ‘home’ Teams will be severely curtailed. Like us they are volunteers and much of the equipment will have been purchased by them over the years, so it will take time and money to replace. Therefore, any information would be very much appreciated, thank you.
