Remote Rescue First Aid

On Saturday and Sunday, 3 Cleveland team members attended a Remote Rescue First Aid course in Swaledale which brought together volunteers from across England and Wales. The 16 hour course gave an introduction to casualty care including airway and breathing problems, blood loss, trauma, hypothermia, heat stroke and circulation problems. The first day was classroom based, followed by a day in a local woodland where the new skills were put to the test with a range of remote rescue scenarios. The team members even learnt how to build a make shift stretcher and turn their mountain rescue jackets into slings. Thank you to the Swaledale team for organising a fantastic learning opportunity.
