The team continues with the medical sessions in the run up to the remote rescue medical technician (RRMT) exam at the end of the month. This week was a carousel of short medical workshops delivered by the volunteer doctors and paramedics of North East Immediate Care, first responder from RNLI and the teams own medical professionals.
The sessions covered a wide range of topics ; mental capacity and consent, catastrophic bleed, suspension/crush injuries, airway management, verification of death, heat illness and intramuscular injections.
The team appreciated the input from the various medical personnel for a very informative night.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
