We recently spoke to Faye Dixon from Living North Magazine about our work and the challenges faced by all mountain rescue teams during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Colleagues from two other Teams – Northumberland National Park MRT and Teesdale and Weardale Search & MRT – also took part. The article will appear in the February 2021 edition of the magazine.
It just goes to show how quickly things can change for mountain rescue teams – when we spoke to Faye we had only had one call-out so far this year (as mentioned in the article) but just two-weeks later we’re already up to five call-outs!

Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
