Today is Emergency Services Day (#999Day) which is an opportunity to recognise the two million people who serve in the NHS & emergency services, including all mountain rescue members who help to provide a 24-hour, year-round voluntary search & rescue service.
One of those volunteers suffered life-changing injuries in 2021 whilst on a rescue with his colleagues from Patterdale Mountain Rescue Team. Chris Lewis was recently admitted to hospital with a chest infection and pneumonia but very sadly died two days later. Our thoughts are with Chris’s family, friends and all members of Patterdale MRT.

Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.Join Now
