The five teams of the North East Search & Rescue Association have between them received £3,000 from Canny Crafters, a group which makes handmade and homemade items and sells them online and at farmers’ markets and craft fairs across the North East region. They donate all profits to a chosen charity each year and this year it was NESRA – the cash was split equally between the five teams:
Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team, Teesdale and Weardale Search and Mountain Rescue Team, Cleveland Mountain Rescue Team, Northumberland National Park Mountain Rescue Team and North of Tyne Mountain Rescue Team.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.

Unfortunately due to the overnight rain with more forecast, today's event at Redcar Racing has been cancelled so we will not be there! Statement from the racecourse:
Unfortunately today’s Easter Monday race meeting has been abandoned.
We are bitterly disappointed that racing is not able to go ahead but there is little that can be done given the amount of recent rainfall this morning.
All pre-paid tickets will automatically be refunded, there is no need to contact the racecourse office.
