Over the weekend the team provided medical cover for the Boltby Bash mountain bike event, around the village of Boltby. The weekend consists of practice day on Saturday and race day on Sunday with around 1300 competitors. There were a small number of minor injuries, along with a more serious shoulder injury on each day which required an ambulance to take the casualties to hospital.( further information in call out posts)
Two team members , Becky and Ollie, were participating in the event. Following the completion of their practice run on Saturday they then helped the team with the call out. On Sunday they were willing to pause their participation mid race to assist on stage 2, fortunately there were sufficient numbers on scene. They were able to continue with their race.
Thanks to support members, Dom and Peter for doing the bucket collection on Sunday afternoon
A busy weekend for the team, 3 call outs with 2 long days of medical cover.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
