Just a few days after an ITV crew visited our Base this time it was the turn of BBC Look North (NE & Cumbria) to talk to us but this time via Zoom!
Our Public Relations Officer, Gary Clarke, spoke to Peter Harris from Look North about the impact of COVID-19 on the Team’s work and in particular the potential for increased call-outs when the current lockdown is lifted.
The start of the piece includes video footage from a rescue we undertook at Gormire Lake in June 2020 plus some still shots from other rescues last year. Later in the interview Peter Harris spoke to one of our colleagues from the North of Tyne MRT.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.

Unfortunately due to the overnight rain with more forecast, today's event at Redcar Racing has been cancelled so we will not be there! Statement from the racecourse:
Unfortunately today’s Easter Monday race meeting has been abandoned.
We are bitterly disappointed that racing is not able to go ahead but there is little that can be done given the amount of recent rainfall this morning.
All pre-paid tickets will automatically be refunded, there is no need to contact the racecourse office.
