Father Christmas completed his traditional Sleigh Run around the streets of Great Ayton last night with some Elves (some of whom who looked suspiciously like Cleveland MRT members) carrying their collection buckets. They were very heavy by the end of the night (the buckets that is, not the Elves!). In fact, the people of Great Ayton and visitors to the…
Following their Roseberry Topping races this year, Hardmoors Ultra & Trail races Community Page have shared £300.80p between Cleveland MRT and our neighbours at Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team. Not only that but £477 has been given to North York Moors National Park and 179 trees will be planted in Scotland! Thanks again to Shirley, Jon and everyone involved…
Many, many thanks to everyone who donated, bought merchandise or popped by for a chat during our street collection in Northallerton today. The money has been counted and we can now reveal (ahead of tonight's 'Strictly' result!) that the grand total was £1,419 - a tremendous amount, especially consider these challenging economic times. Thanks also to the many Team members…
Many congratulations to our very own Ollie Henson for qualifying as a water training instructor at the weekend. This means he can now train our water & flood rescue members (comprised of Swift-Water Rescue Technicians [SRT] and First Responders). Ollie is pictured in the middle / back of the photo which is courtesy of Water-rescue. Well done Ollie!
Earlier this year Cleveland MRT formed an Equality, Diversity & Inclusivity group to address a number of factors ranging from how we recruit and train our people (to encourage a wider range of candidates more representative of the local community), how we interact with people outside the Team including with minority groups, routes to leadership and a whole host of…
Earlier this year we went to the aid of Nick Piper who had sustained serious back injuries whilst participating in a mountain bike event. After treating him at the scene, Team members carried him (with the assistance of other participants and event staff) to an ambulance. By October, Nick had recovered sufficiently well to undertake a personal cycling challenge to…
Very many thanks to the Order of St John of Jerusalem Knights Hospitaller Priory of Northern England for their recent donation £1,000 to the Team. On behalf of the Order of St John, David Kirwan visited our Base to handover the cheque and met Team members Richard, Carolyn and Mike.
WE WILL REMEMBER THEM At 1100 hours today, members of Cleveland MRT gathered for our annual Remembrance Day walk up to the site of a Second World War aircraft crash site near to Captain Cook's Monument, to pay our respects to all those who have sacrificed so much in the service of their countries. Thanks to Team members Kath (who…
Two members from Cleveland MRT and others from our neighbouring team Scarborough and Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team have been assisting at the The Malton Forest Rally today by staffing the entry gates to two of the spectator car parking areas (one for each MR Team) as part of a fundraising initiative. We were stationed on a forest track near Stape,…

As part of their apprenticeship they have a forum group which they use to develop their skills, to volunteer and to undertake educational talks / days - learning more about what takes place in and…
