In a recent News article on this page, we thanked Vicky McFarlane for a donation following her rescue last year and now Vicky has been featured in this Northern Echo article. Thanks for you kind words Vicky (and again for your donation). Screenshot courtesy of the Northern Echo:
The Team recently received a very generous donation of £500 from the Northallerton Lodge of the RAOB. Our Team Leader, Tim Wood, was on hand to receive a cheque from the RAOB's Ken Evitt at a meeting of the group at The Oddfellows pub in Northallerton. Many thanks to the ROAB for such a kind gesture.
Whilst we were covering the Ardmoors event at Lordstones last Saturday we had a very welcome visit from members of the Centurions Walking Group. It was the latest stage in their walk along the Cleveland Way, which they are doing in seven sections over the course of the spring and summer to raise funds for Cleveland MRT. So it was…
A very welcome visitor to our stand at Saturday’s Great Ayton fete was Vicky McFarlane who was one of ‘our casualties’ back in June last year. Vicky had fallen and sustained a nasty break to her right leg. As a result she had a metal plate fitted and is still recovering but is able to walk. Being immensely greatful for…
This weekend we provided safety cover for the Ard Moors mountain bike event, which saw over 1200 competitors taking part. A mixture of minor and serious injuries were dealt with, two of which required ambulances being called to our medical tent to take casualties to hospital. We also dealt with two unrelated call-outs whilst the event was taking place. Many…
Many thanks to the organisers of the CPAD Ingleby Barwick Fund 'Siren Fest' that we attended last month. They donated £550 to the Team as a 'charity share' of the receipts from the entry fees and the mascot race. On the day, our members there received £282.75, mostly from our children's games, but also from the sale of merchandise and…
The Annual Review of Mountain Rescue England & Wales (MREW) is now available to read online via this FlippingBook link. Lots of interesting and useful features about the work of mountain rescue teams in the last year plus the statistics regarding all of the incidents attended.
Last year Ian Rowan raised over £2,500 for Cleveland MRT (including match-funding from his employer’s Johnson Matthey) by running the London Marathon. Not content with that, he has set himself a bigger challenge in support of the Team this year by planning to run the 100-Km Thames Path Ultra. Ian has set up a Just Giving page so please consider…
Many thanks to everyone who contributed to our collection at the weekend's Boltby Bash. We received a whopping £767 in donations! That's in addition to a raffle organised on our behalf by RedSky Bikes which raised £171. Thanks also for all of the very kind comments made to Team members over the weekend. Well done to everyone who took part…
Thank you to everyone who entered for this year's Whalebones Walk - we hope you had a great time today. Your entry fees and sponsorship monies will go directly to Team funds and so will, in turn, be helping those people who need our search & rescue services. Thank you also to our Team members who gave up their spare…
