MONDAY 6TH MAY 2024
We were contacted during the late-evening by Cleveland Police to assist them in locating a high-risk missing person, with a requirement for us to search an area of woodland south of Carlin How.
Team members were contacted at home and directed to an RV-point, taking with them our two Land Rovers and the Incident Control Vehicle. Having agreed a search plan with officers at the scene we were just about to commence the search when the missing person was located by Police officers outside of the search area. We were then able to stand-down and return to our Base and homes by about 0200 hours.
Twenty-two members were involved for approximately 2.5-hours.
Many thanks to search dog handlers from Mountain Rescue Search Dogs England (North East) who were on standby to attend.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
