MONDAY 20 JULY (0040 HRS)
In the early hours of Monday morning, the team were contacted by North Yorkshire Police to assist in the search for a despondent person, in the Newby area, south of Middlesbrough.
The team searched field and plantation areas to north and west of Newby, with the police searching areas around Brass Castle Lane. Along with searchers on foot, the team deployed the drone for the first operational use. The drone performed a thermal search of a large area.
At 0345, the team were stood down by Police with the person not located.
14 team members were involved for 3 hours
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
