Thursday 20th August (2310hrs)
The team were requested to provide assistance to North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) to search for a missing casualty in woodland on the outskirts of Loftus. The team sent out both Land Rovers and the Control vehicle along with others in their own vehicles. The Coastguard were also requested to provide assistance. When the first few team members in their own vehicles arrived, the call out officer was notified by NEAS that the casualty had been located and the team could stand down.
16 team members were involved for approximately 1 hour.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
