We received a request from North Yorkshire Police to help in a search for a vulnerable high risk female in the area of Sandsend. The Coastguard (HMCG) was already deployed on the search.
As we were already engaged on an earlier search for a man at Saltburn we initially asked Scarborough & Ryedale Mountain Rescue Team (SRMRT) to assist with the Sandsend search in our absence. However, shortly after that the man who we had been searching for was located and we were then able to re-locate to Sandsend ready to search alongside our colleagues from the Police, SRMRT and HMCG.
Twenty members deployed for just over 2-hours plus travelling time back from Sandsend to various homes and our Base at Great Ayton.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.

Unfortunately due to the overnight rain with more forecast, today's event at Redcar Racing has been cancelled so we will not be there! Statement from the racecourse:
Unfortunately today’s Easter Monday race meeting has been abandoned.
We are bitterly disappointed that racing is not able to go ahead but there is little that can be done given the amount of recent rainfall this morning.
All pre-paid tickets will automatically be refunded, there is no need to contact the racecourse office.
