Sunday 19th July 2020. We were contacted by Cleveland Police on the evening for what turned out to be our second call-out of the day. This time to assist the police in searching in the Saltburn area for a missing man. Our Team members were contacted and deployed to Saltburn together with one of our Land Rover ambulances and our Incident Control vehicle. In addition a Swaledale Mountain Rescue Team member and his search dog were deployed.
Following extensive searches of the areas allocated to us by the police, we were stood down at midnight. Police enquiries to trace the man continue. 28 Cleveland MRT members were involved in the search, together with two co-ordinating our response remotely and the Swaledale MRT member & search dog (many thanks to them). The searches lasted approximately 4-hours.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
