FRIDAY 8TH JULY 2022
Shortly before 0900 hours we were contacted by Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) regarding a report of a woman who had sustained a lower leg injury whilst walking in Newton Wood, below Roseberry Topping.
Both of our Land Rovers were deployed and a number of Team members made their way to an RV-point at the Roseberry Topping car-park before following a path at the lower side of the woods, together with the YAS crew. Upon reaching the casualty she was treated by paramedics. We then safely secured her within a vacuum mattress and lifted her onto a rescue stretcher. Team members carried her approximately 600-metres back along the path to the waiting ambulance for onward transport to hospital. We wish her well for her recovery.
Eighteen Team members were involved plus our call-out officer coordinating the initial response. It lasted for approximately 1.5 hours including travelling time.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.Join Now
