TUESDAY 29TH OCTOBER 2024 (1511 HOURS)
We were requested by the North East Ambulance Service to go to the aid of an injured horse rider, following a fall on farmland between Guisborough and Skelton. One of our Team Doctors headed directly there whilst other members using two Land Rovers joined him upon their arrival.
After the casualty had been stabilised and given pain relief, she was ‘packaged’ within a vacuum mattress on a rescue stretcher, which was then secured inside one of the Land Rovers. After she had been driven to a farmyard, she was handed over into the care of the ambulance crew. We wish her all the best for a swift recovery.
Many thanks to people at the farm for helping to transport some of our personnel.
Seventeen Cleveland MRT members were involved for just under 2-hours before they were able to leave the farm and head home or to our Base.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
