Rescue – Chapel Wood Farm, Osmotherley

TUESDAY 23RD NOVEMBER 2021 (1406 HOURS)

We were contacted in the afternoon by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) with a request to assist their personnel attending to a report of a 79-year-old-woman, who had fallen and injured her ankle whilst walking just north of Osmotherley.

Two double-crewed Land Rovers were immediately deployed. In addition, other Team members separately made their way to the scene which was approximately 250-metres north of Lady’s Chapel just outside Osmotherley, along the Cleveland Way.

The casualty was treated by the YAS personnel assisted by some of our Team members. Once she had received pain relief and her ankle had been stabilised she was lifted onto a rescue stretcher and then we carried her approximately 500-metres to the ambulance for onward transport to hospital. We wish her well for her recovery.

Many thanks to everyone at Chapel Wood Farm for their assistance with parking our vehicles and access to the area.

Eleven Team members attended with the initial response being co-ordinated remotely by our Call-out Officer. The incident lasted approximately 1.75 hours plus return travel and vehicle cleaning / decontamination time.
