We were called by Yorkshire Ambulance Service to assist with a lady who had slipped on the Cleveland Way between Runswick Bay and Port Mulgrave. The lady, who was from Rotherham has sustained lower leg injuries and was unable to walk.
The lady was treated at the scene by ambulance paramedics before being evacuated to the waiting ambulance along very muddy paths on our Bell mountain rescue stretcher by members of the team and members of the Coastguard who we had asked to assist.
The incident lasted around 3 hours with 9 team members involved along with 6 coastguard volunteers.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.Join Now
