We were called around 12:30 on Friday 6th September to help Yorkshire Ambulance personnel with a 80 year old lady from Marske who had slipped in fields whilst on a walk around Great Ayton with her husband and dog.
Whilst the ambulance paramedic sorted out the first aid and pain relief we organised transporting her, on our mountain rescue stretcher, the 100 metres or so across the field to the waiting ambulance.
Twelve of us were involved, with more on the way, for around an hour.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.Join Now
