Wednesday 27th May 2020. Just before 4.30pm we were alerted to a report of a 15-year old boy who had fallen in woodland above Guisborough. Team members were deployed to assist the North East Ambulance Service with evacuation. They treated the young man for a suspected fractured leg before the ambulance arrived and he was then taken to hospital.
14 members were involved and and the incident was one of our quickest ever, seeing the casualty dealt with within the hour! The incident was dealt with in accordance with our strict COVID-19 procedures. One Team Land Rover was involved which was decontaminated upon return to our Base.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
