Our busy mid-July period continued on Sunday 19th July 2020 with our fifth call-out in the space of 10-days; this time to Guisborough Woods. We were contacted by the North East Ambulance Service at 11.19am with a request to assist them with a mountain-biker who had come off his bike and sustained back injuries.
One of our Land Rover ambulances was deployed and a number of our volunteer Team members made their way to the casualty who was treated by paramedics. He was then placed on a mountain rescue stretcher and carried to a waiting ambulance to be taken to hospital for further treatment. 20 Team members were involved (plus two co-ordinating remotely) for approximately 1 hour 40 minutes.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
