THURSDAY 30TH DECEMBER 2021 (1652 HOURS)
A flurry of call-outs to end 2021, included this brief one when we were requested by Cleveland Police to assist a group of walkers who had become disorientated in the darkness whilst walking on Eston Hills.
Through a combination of the What3Words app and the mountain rescue Phone Find facility their probable location was identified and so a limited deployment of Team members was sufficient. Whilst they were en route the Police advised us that the walkers had managed to find their own way back to their car and our Team members were able to stand-down and return to Base.
Seven members (including our Call-out Officer) were involved for just under one-hour.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.

Unfortunately due to the overnight rain with more forecast, today's event at Redcar Racing has been cancelled so we will not be there! Statement from the racecourse:
Unfortunately today’s Easter Monday race meeting has been abandoned.
We are bitterly disappointed that racing is not able to go ahead but there is little that can be done given the amount of recent rainfall this morning.
All pre-paid tickets will automatically be refunded, there is no need to contact the racecourse office.
