MONDAY 31st OCTOBER 2022 (1055 HOURS)
We were contacted by North Yorkshire Police after a walker reported seeing a climber, potentially in difficulties and unable to move on the south-west crag face of Roseberry Topping.
After speaking to the caller our call-out officer deployed three Team members using one of our Land Rovers in order to make an initial assessment. However, after checking the area and speaking to various people on and around Roseberry Topping nothing untowards was found and they were able to stand-down. Many thanks to the original caller for alerting the Police to someone potentially in danger and, as usual, to everyone at Aireyholme Farm for access across their land.
The call-out lasted just over 1-hour and involved three Team members at the scene plus our call-out officer working remotely, with other available if needed.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
