Sunday 28th June 2020. At 9.12pm we were contacted by the Yorkshire Ambulance Service with a request to assist them at Castleton where a car had reportedly gone off the road and down an embankment. North Yorkshire Police were also in attendance.
In what was our second call-out of the day, Team members were called out from home and drivers were allocated to take our two Land Rover ambulances. However, although some of the Team arrived at the nominated RV-point in Castleton, we were soon advised that the driver was in an ambulance receiving treatment, so our assistance was no longer required. Everyone there and en route was able to return home and the Team was made ready for any further call-outs. 22 Team members were involved (plus two co-ordinating remotely) for approximately 30 minutes.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.Join Now
