0010hrs Sunday September 15th.
North Yorkshire Police got in touch with us in the early hours of Sunday morning asking for our help in searching for a Vulnerable Middlesbrough man whose car had been found in Stokesley.
Along with our sister team,Scarborough and Ryedale MRT, we searched the footpaths and forestry tracks around Claybank for around 3 hours before a police helicopter located a heat source in some nearby woods where, sadly, the body of the missing man was found.
Our thoughts are with the man’s friends and family.
35 mountain rescue personnel, along with members of North Yorkshire Police were involved for around six hours.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
