Sunday 17th May (1310 and 1450hrs)
The team were contacted by Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) about an injured young mountain bike rider in the vicinity of where the Boltby Bash event was taking place. The team members on stage 2 walked to the injured rider with both Land Rovers containing other team members heading to the area.
The individual had an injured shoulder and was provided appropriate pain relief.
Once the pain relief reduced the pain score, the individual was loaded onto the team stretcher with the wheel fitted .The casualty was transferred down the hill to the roadside for transfer to the ambulance.
Not long after the casualty was transferred to the ambulance, we received a request from North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) to provide assistance to another injured mountain bike rider , this time in Guisborough woods near to Highcliffe Farm. Team members in the local area proceeded to the RV , spare manpower from the event travelled in one Land Rover with others in their own vehicles. As the Land Rover was approaching the casualty site, the team were informed the casualty had been loaded into the ambulance.
We wish both casualties a speedy recovery .
There team were involved for approx. 2 hours at Kirby Knowle and approx 1 hour at Guisborough Woods.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
