SATURDAY 21ST JANUARY 2023 (1758 hours)
Our second deployment of the day and the third of the weekend so far. We received a request from the North Yorkshire Fire & Rescue Service to assist with the rescue of a walker and his dog stranded down a steep embankment near to Sutton Bank. We deployed two Team Land Rovers from our Base and other members were en route when we were stood down by Fire Control as their personnel had managed to get the stranded pair safely to the bottom of the hillside.
Fourteen Cleveland MRT members were involved for just over 1.25 hours.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
