TUESDAY 23RD AUGUST 2022 (2244 HOURS)
A late-night call from Cleveland Police regarding a man who had sustained a leg injury whilst walking in woodland just south of the A174 near Skinningrove. A North East Ambulance Service crew was en route and our attendance was required to extract him from the woodland.
Two double-crewed Team Land Rovers were sent from our Base. In addition, a number of other Team members made their way to a nearby RV-point in their own vehicles. The casualty was attended to by the NEAS crew and once they were satisfied with his condition, he was lifted onto one of our rescue stretchers and carried approximately 100-metres to the ambulance for onward transport to hospital. We wish him well for his recovery.
Seventeen Team members were deployed by our call-out officer although a few were stood-down en route once we had a sufficient number present. The call-out lasted just under 2-hours including return travel time to homes and our Base.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
