FRIDAY 26TH JULY 2024 (1532 HOURS)
We were requested by the North East Ambulance Service to assist them with a horse rider who had suffered potentially serious injuries after a fall on land east of Guisborough. A Team Land Rover with five people on board was deployed from our Base to an RV-point in the area, whilst other Team members went in their own vehicles. Upon arrival we deployed one ‘hasty party’ on foot to meet up with the NEAS crew dealing with the casualty, with the remainder of our personnel following a short while later.
Once the NEAS personnel had finished assessing and stabilising the casualty, we lifted her onto a rescue stretcher and secured her within a vacuum mattress. After attaching a wheel to the stretcher we wheeled / carried her for approximately 650-metres to the RV-point, from where she was transferred to the waiting ambulance. We would like to send her our best wishes.
Eighteen Cleveland MRT members were involved for just over 1.5-hours when stood-down.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
