Ambulance assistance – near Gribdale Gate

FRIDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER 2024 (2227 HOURS)

For our third call-out of the day, we received a request from the Yorkshire Ambulance Service to assist one of their crews in the vicinity of Captains Cook’s Monument with the extraction of a male casualty. A Yorkshire Air Ambulance crew was also in attendance. Both of those crews subsequently handled all of the casualty care treatment on scene.

We turned out a number of personnel from various locations (mainly their homes given the time of day); some of them collecting a Team Land Rover en route. Once the casualty had been dealt with by the medical staff, we lifted him onto a rescue stretcher and secured him within a casualty bag to warm him up. He was then carried / wheeled on the stretcher for approximately 350-metres down a narrow path lined with thick gorse and bracken. On reaching Gribdale Gate carpark we transferred him to the waiting ambulance. We wish him well for his recovery.

Sixteen Cleveland MRT members were involved for approximately 2.25-hours.
