MONDAY 28TH FEBRUARY 2022 (1002 HOURS)
A busy couple of days for the Team, following on from yesterday’s call-out, this morning the Yorkshire Ambulance Service (YAS) asked for our assistance as their crews were attending to a report of a male walker who had fallen and injured an ankle near to Lordstones Country Park.
As we already had two Team members at our Base checking equipment after yesterday’s call-out they were able to go straight to Lordstones in one of our Land Rovers, whilst other Team members made their way there from homes and work places.
Once they met up with the YAS personnel they were able to get the Land Rover close to the casualty and he was helped inside and then transported to the waiting ambulance.
Fourteen Team Members were deployed with the response co-ordinated from home by our call-out officer. The incident lasted approximately 1-hour plus return travel time back to Base, homes and work.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
