FRIDAY 15TH APRIL 2022 (1030 HOURS)
This morning we received a request to assist the Yorkshire Ambulance Service as they were en route to a report of an injured mountain biker near to Great Ayton. A Yorkshire Air Ambulance helicopter was also attending.
One of our Land Rovers was soon dispatched to the scene arriving ahead of other Team members making their way separately. Upon arrival of the Land Rover crew it was apparent that the casualty’s injuries, although serious, were not felt to be as bad as initially feared and as the location was reasonably accessible, he was left in the care of the ambulance service. We wish him well for a speedy recovery.
We were then able to stand-down and cancel those Team members still en route. Fourteen Team Members were either present or en route plus one person co-ordinating our response from home. The call-out lasted less than one-hour, including time for our Land Rover crew to return to Base.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.Join Now
