THURSDAY 24TH JUNE 2021 (0044 HOURS)
In the early hours of the morning we were contacted by the North East Ambulance Service (NEAS) to assist them in dealing with a report of a teenage girl in need of medical assistance in woodlands near to Flatts Lane, Middlesbrough.
Initially, we advised NEAS about access routes and potential extraction points from the woodlands. Two Team members then drove to our Base to collect a Land Rover whilst others went direct to the scene and liaised with the ambulance personnel. Fortunately, a short while later NEAS advised us that the casualty had been recovered and, therefore, we were no longer required. So it was an early morning drive home and back to bed for our Team members.
Twelve Team members were involved (plus our Call-out Officer) for just over 1.5 hours.
That brings us up to fifty call-outs and other incidents so far this year:
Deployed call-outs: 38 (including this one)
Other incidents: 12
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
