FRIDAY 28TH APRIL 2023 (1734 HOURS)
The Team deployed at the request of the North East Ambulance Service. One of their crews was en route to a report of a teenager who had sustained a leg injury following a biking accident in Errington Woods, just to the south of New Marske.
A Team Land Rover with four members on board was dispatched from our Base with others making their own way to the scene in their own vehicles. The casualty was treated by NEAS paramedics and, once stabilised, we carried him on a mountain rescue for approximately 250-metres to a waiting ambulance for onward treatment at hospital. We wish him well for his recovery.
Twenty Team members were involved in the incident for approximately 1.75-hours before standing-down, to then travel time back to our Base and homes.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.Join Now
