THURSDAY 17th April (12:55)
The Team was contacted by Yorkshire Ambulance Service to provide assistance to a trail bike rider who had an upper leg injury at Dalton-on-Tees
Two fully manned team vehicles were dispatched from the base along with other members in their own vehicles to the casualty site.
At the site, the person was treated and stabilised by medics from ambulance service and the crew from a Critical Care vehicle. He was then placed into a vacuum mattress on the rescue stretcher. To expedite his transfer to the ambulance approx 200m uphill, the stretcher was carried without the wheel being attached.
We wish the person a speedy full recovery.
15 team members were involved for approx 3 hours including one Land Rover collecting the vacuum mattress from Darlington Memorial hospital.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
