SUNDAY 23RD FEBRUARY 2025 (1737 HOURS)
Contacted by the North East Ambulance Service who requested our assistance with the extraction of a man who had suffered a lower leg injury after slipping on a muddy path near to the River Tees just outside Yarm. An ambulance crew was reported to be walking towards the casualty site and a NEAS Hazardous Area Response Team was also en route.
We deployed two Land Rovers and a number of Team members. Once the casualty had been stabilised we ‘wheeled’ him approximately 700-metres back to the ambulance using the HART team’s wheeled rescue stretcher.
Nineteen Cleveland MRT members were involved for approximately 2-hours plus return travel time.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
