SATURDAY 11TH JANUARY 2025 (1120 HOURS)
Contacted by North Yorkshire Police for our first call-out of the year, after concerns were raised that a dog and/or owner may be in distress or in need of assistance in the Percy Cross Rigg area, a few miles east of Great Ayton.
We deployed two Land Rover crews to the area. Having checked various locations and speaking to a number of walkers we stood down with nothing untoward coming to light. Many thanks to a walker for informing the Police in the first place. It is very icy up that way so please take care if out and about and make sure someone knows your plans.
Nine Team members were directly involved for just under 2.5-hours with another ten on standby if needed.
Applications can be made to join the team in a support role (Operational Support) or as a hill going (Search and Rescue) member.
Applications for either role can be made at any time. Intakes for Operational Support members occur at various times of the year. There is one annual intake for Search and Rescue normally each September.
