Rescue – near Yorkshire Gliding Club

FRIDAY 15TH NOVEMBER 2024 (1801 HOURS)

This was our 50th call-out deployment of the year. That’s in addition to 25 other incidents dealt with so far (such as casualties at safety cover events, incidents resolved by phone or where we were stood down before deploying etc).

For this call-out, we were initially contacted by Swaledale MRT and subsequently by North Yorkshire Police to advise us of a family in need of assistance whilst out walking on the Cleveland Way near to the Yorkshire Gliding Club. One of them was unwell and unable to continue their walk back to the carpark at White Horse bank.

Having spoken to one of family by phone to check on the casualty’s condition, we also identified their location using the SARCALL Phone Find system. A limited call-out of one Land Rover crew was arranged, whilst we maintained regular contact with the family. Once they had been located and assessed we transported them back to their car for their onward journey home.

Four Cleveland MRT members were involved for just under 2-hours plus return travel back to Base. Twenty-one other members were on standby but not ultimately required.
